Five Question Friday

1. Have you ever had surgery?
Yes..About a year ago, actually. I woke up in the morning to get ready for work and as soon as I stepped in the shower I doubled over in pain. I made it to the bed and called my husband who was already at work and told him through tears that I thought something was seriously wrong. He came home and waited with me until we could get in to the doctor. She took one look at me, gave me shot of Darvacet (sp?) and sent me in for a scan..they thought it was my appendix. After the results came back they were sure my appendix looked inflamed and sent me to the surgeon. He took a look at the results and couldn't decide for sure, but said we could either wait and get another scan the next day, or go in for exploratory surgery to see what it looked at. After weighing the options, we decided on the surgery. SCARIEST decision of my life. I had the surgery later that afternoon and they found it wasn't my appendix, but rather a HUGE cyst that had burst and had some infection. At least they got it out! And, after all that they didn't even take my appendix while they were in there...

2. Ever ride in an ambulance?
Nope

3. How are you in a medical emergency? Panicked? Calm?
I freak out! Really, the only "medical emergencies" I've had to deal with have been with my son or myelf, so yes, I freak out! I hope I can get that under control since I am getting ready to go into the nursing program!

4. Do you have a garden? Flowers or veggies?
Ummm..I have a couple of flower beds out in front of our house, we planted flowers last year. They lasted a couple of months and looked good, but then we went on vacation. Being gone for nine days in the heat of summer and not watering or weeding flower beds..not good! They didn't look so hot when we got home. I'm hoping to plant more this year and take better care of them. I would love to have a veggie garden, but I'm pretty sure the dog would claim it as his bed or his snacks!

5. When did you move out of your parents house?
I moved out when I went to college, but moved home for my first summer of college. I don't claim I moved back in, though, because I lived out of suitcases and had to share a room (and bed) with my younger sister. Not cool! I never went home for another summer!

Lately

Well..it's been awhile since I've posted..Oops!
Update..my book reading list isn't going well. I have read a few books, but none that are on my list...
I just recenlty finished reading "Kissed by an Angel" by Elizabeth Chandler.

I must say that for a random purchase at the used book store, it was great! I couldn't put it down. It is actually 3 books in one about a high school girl that falls in love with a boy who is later killed in a car accident. He comes back as her angel, but she no longer believes in angels after his death. He helps her through a lot of rough times without her knowing until she finally begins to believe again...Great book! There is another book that comes after this one that I'd like to find and read as well. I picked up a couple of other books by the same auther and can't wait to read them as well!

I'm now reading a book called "After" by Amy Efaw. It is amazing, as well!

I'm halfway through my second semester of my going back to school adventure. I have finished my Nurse Aide course and am now just waiting on my certificate to come in the mail. I hope it comes soon so that I can get a job! I take the TEAS test in about a week and a half. I'm nervous, but have been studying a lot and going to review sessions. I hope I do well enough to get in to the nursing program this fall. Otherwise I have to fill up a semester and wait to apply again in the Spring. I am now taking only Microbiology and LOVING it! It's a bit of work, but interesting and relevant. My teacher is awesome, which helps a lot!

My son just turned two..it's hard to watch him grow up, but at the same time I love watching him learn new things and grow big and tall. He has such a little personality and keeps us on our toes!
Picture post to come!
